Cape Town Paddlesnappers Dragon Boat Club

From May on, sessions will be on Tuesdays at 18h00 and Saturdays at 12h00. Thursday club sessions will be resumed in Spring, though they may be co-opted in the interim for informal Worlds squad training.

The 13th Cape Town Paddlesnappers Annual General Meeting will be held at 16h00 on Saturday the 26th of January.

Please contact me if you have not received the notice (including Agenda, previous AGM minutes and Constitution) that were distributed to the mailing list today.

To confirm: The first session of 2008 will be on Thursday the 3rd of January (at 18h00). Novices welcome.

Thurs 20th: TBA - will discuss on Tuesday 18th
Sat 22nd: Session
Tues 25th: (XMas) No session
Thurs 27th: TBA - will discuss on Tuesday 25th

Tues 1st: (New Years Day): No session

Thereafter sessions as usual Tues, Thurs & Saturday as we build toward the regatta on 22-24 February. There will be crew-deciding time-trials in January.

A reminder that Summer League 4 is this weekend (20 October) at Canal Walk. Racing starts at 10h45.

The final regatta for the year will be Summer League 5 on 10 November, at the V&A Waterfront.

We're now back into normal summer sessions (Tuesdays & Thursdays at 18h00, Saturdays at 12h00). All welcome to swing by and try it out, provided there's not a regatta that day.

Following the success of an informal novice session today, we're going to have another at 12h00 on Saturday the 29th of September. All welcome.

This is a great non-hectic way to try it out whilst the rest of the club are on holiday.

The penultimate league regatta for the year will be on Saturday 20th October, i.e. a week after we get back from our break.

The final Winter League regatta for 2007 is confirmed for this Saturday (8th September), starting at 09h30. Please all to be there before 09h00, ready to warm-up.

Note that there are sessions as usual this week.

Paddlesnappers has decided to take a break over Ramadan, not having had an off-season in ages. We will paddle as usual till the regatta on Saturday 8 September, and then return again only on Saturday 13 October.

As Martin pointed out in correspondence, when we come back it will be warmer, lighter later in the evenings, and we will all have had time to recover from our various injuries, maladies and jadedness.
